Disney was AMAZING.
This is a trip I can highly recommend for parents of autistic children. If you can swing it, staying on-site in one of the Disney hotels makes life much easier as well. Our hotel package included our room, tickets to the park of our choice each day (and we spent the $200ish extra to upgrade to Park Hopper passes so we could do multiple parks in a day - SO worth it), and the quick service meal plan.
Disney was very accomodating when it comes to special needs kids. We went to guest services on our first park visit and told them we had a child on the spectrum. We were given the golden ticket, a little item called a 'Guest Assistance Pass', that allowed us to use the Fastpass or Handicapped entrance to each ride. It cut down wait time to something manageable for Joey, and he had SUCH a ball. The first couple of days he was a little freaked out and didn't want to ride things, but by day three he was as excited to hit the parks as the rest of us.
My little dare devil boys, Jonny and Will, loved EVERYTHING. Favorites were Tower of Terror (hurl me into the void again mama!!), Expedition Everest roller coaster, Mission to Mars (the extreme version), Space Mountain (which we rode at least three times) and pretty much anything that went fast or tried to dislocate your spine.
We liked it so much that we're already planning another trip summer after next. Time to start the countdown!
